(Waynflete freshman Martha Veroneau won the Class C girls state title, leading her team to the state title) As the day grew older and the sun started to set, the temperatures started to drop, but that didn’t prevent a great team race from happening. With only 5 scoring teams at the starting line, as Greenville didn’t make the trip to Twin Brook as they had a state championship soccer game the same day, the eventual winner wouldn’t be known until long after the last athlete crossed the finish line.
